Congratulations to our 2018 Give Local Grant Awardees
This year, United Way UK received over 95 applications for our Give Local grants programme. After careful consideration and input from our wonderful partners at Costco we have awarded 29 grants of £1,000 to 29 small charities; each working to improve their own communities. These grants will go to support a variety of programming including bespoke homelessness 1-to-1 support, food banks, mental health counselling, and a community gym.
United Way is extremely proud to support this diverse group of charities. We would like to congratulate all 29 charities on receiving their awards. This year, 12 charities United Way and Costco have previously supported were awarded grants with 17 new charities awarded Give Local grants for the first time. The Give Local programme is made possible by the generous contributions of Costco employees.
The United Way Give Local grants programme supported by Costco awards 30 grants of £1,000 to small charities around the country. Each warehouse supports a charity of their choice that works alongside them in the community. To date the programme has awarded £112,000 to 70 different small charities positively impacting and estimated 47,156 people in the UK. Give Local the embodiment of United Way’s mission to support all people in all communities.
“Costco and United Way UK are working together to support the health, education and financial stability of those who need it the most, in disadvantaged communities around the country. We are committed to growing our joint impact, and I am thrilled to learn that our Give Local programme has made a positive contribution to the lives of more than 47,000 people.” ––Steve Pappas, Costco Europe SVP and United Way UK Board Chair.
