United Way UK–– a new phase

United Way UK is seeking a new CEO as the current co-CEOs prepare to leave the organisation.

Since the charity began in 2014, United Way UK has launched two flagship initiatives: Give Local and Reading Oasis. These have supported more than 70 local charities and community groups, benefiting tens of thousands of people. Significant new corporate partnerships have been secured for 2018 and beyond, which will contribute to the continued growth of the charity's impact and sustainability.

Hannah Bellamy, the founding CEO of United Way UK, is leaving the charity after 4 years to join charity:water as the UK MD: "Working with the worldwide network to establish and lead United Way has been an honour, and I'm excited to see where the next CEO takes it. We have been fortunate to have fantastic support from partners such as Costco, AmericanExpress and McKinsey, and from a number of major donors, all of whom have contributed to the charity's success and growth. I will miss my interactions with them, with the tireless Board and with the wonderful team. Particularly Jane, whom I have shared the CEO job with over the past year. The job share has been enriching and motivating. It is an experience I hope to repeat."

Jane Hudson Jones, who has been with the charity for almost 2 years, will oversee continuity as well as recruitment and onboarding of the new CEO, before continuing with her charity management support and coaching work: "It has been an enormous privilege to work with Hannah on a job share basis, and to discover the significant advantages this can offer at a senior level, and I look forward to the possibility of further collaborations in future. I'm excited about the opportunity to continue to support the wonderful Board and team at United Way UK, through this transitional period and beyond, into a successful future."

United Way UK Chair, Steve Pappas - Senior VP Costco Europe, will continue to lead the Trustee Board, and says: "United Way UK has made great strides in its start-up phase with Hannah and Jane at the helm, and is now moving into an exciting new growth phase. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I thank Hannah for her commitment and significant achievements at the charity and wish her the very best for future success. We now share an incredible opportunity, with our partners and supporters, to amplify our collective impact and support more communities in need each year."
